• Le Zoo d'Abidjan

The only zoo in Cote d'Ivoire, created privately in 1930 the Abidjan Zoo has had mixed fortunes, during the war, some 40 animals died, among them 6 lions. One of the lucky survivors was Can, an elephant named after the French acronym for the African cup of nations because she was born in 1992, the year Côte d'Ivoire won its first CAN trophy. The Zoo is undergoing a major rehabilitation and development program. Rare West African animals can be seen there. The Zoo has a substantial collection crocodiles (Mecistops Cataphractus), other animals include: Hyenas, turtle, chimpanzees, hippopotamus etc.
