Fresh Meat

Many people buy meat in bulk at the slaughter house. It is better if you buy big quantities as it is cheaper but it can be quite far depending on where you live. Abidjan main slaughter house (Abattoir in french) is located in Port Bouet, just a few minutes from the airport. Getting there can be quite tricky due to the traffic issue of the area and Abidjan in general. 

The slaughter house experience can quite traumatic for some, if you do not want that experience, there is also a butcher that is still cheaper that supermarkets in the city. 

Most big supermarkets have a fresh meat section but it can be very expensive. The benefit of buying there is that it is all clean and tidy and nicely packaged.
